Plants That Clean The Air
Weve all known since grade school that plants clean the air we breathe. Foliage and flowering plants that are commonly found in modern office environments, hotels, malls, and building lobbies originate in the tropical rainforests of the world. As we have learned, the rainforests of the world serve as the lungs of the earth.
The research suggests that two plants per 100 square feet would be suggested to help improve the interior environment. In a typical office space, this might translate to one table or shelf plant, and one medium floor plant.
The following varieties have been proven the most effective:
Chinese Evergreen
Dieffenbachia
Dracaena
English Ivy
Pothos
Peace Lily
Schefflera
Spider Plant
Tree Philodendron
Weeping Fig
White Butterfly
Warneckei dracaena (Dracaena deremensis warneckei)
Rubber Plant (Ficus robusta)
Lady Palm (Rhapsi excelsa)
Mother-in-law's tongue (Sanseveria tritasciata)
Corn Plant (Dracaena fragrans)
Other very effective varieities include azalea, bamboo palm, bromeliads, gerbera daisy, mass cane, orchids and poinsettias. Pretty much all plants have a positive effect on your indoor environment. Harmful toxins are absorbed, so place plants where air circulates, and wash or dust your plants regularly.
